Rajasthan Patrika, Jaipur: Wednesday 6 January 2010: Sarabjit’s sister and daughter prayed for release: A unilateral decision has been taken in Sarabjit’s case. His release will improve the relations between India and Pakistan. On Tuesday, Abez Sheikh, a Pakistani lawyer and chairman of Pakistan India Peace Initiative came to attend the dargah of Khwaja Saheb along with Sarabjit’s sister and daughter and Sandeep Gupta. Sheikh told reporters that the first lawyer’s continuous absence in the Supreme Court led to a verdict against Sarabjit, while the actual case is in the name of Manjit Singh. Ziarat Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur, daughter Swapanjeet Kaur and lawyer Awez Sheikh Astana reached the Dargah after a case out. He offered prayers outside the Astana Sharif by offering velvet sheets and flowers. During this time a poster appealing to the President of India and Pakistan was released. Tied expectation: Sarabjit’s sister Dalveer Kaur said that the hope raised after lawyer Awez Sheikh takes up the case. His innocent brother should be released. This is the prayer in the court of Khwaja Saheb. Sarabjit’s daughter Swapanjeet said that the family is awaiting the father’s release. According to lawyer Sheikh, messages have been received from many countries in Sarabjit’s case. President Zardari is writing a book ‘Sarabjit Singh A Case of Mistaken Identity’ focused on this matter. Earlier in a press conference held in Jaipur, Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur accused the Foreign Ministry of non-cooperation on this issue. Sarabjit’s lawyer told the press conference that in view of the changed political situation in Pakistan and the new mercy petition, Sarabjit’s death sentence is expected to be postponed or released.
